one of the songs which i heard recently...which i liked is this song called pee loon from Once upon a time in mumbai.
This song I have to say is Tailormade for a singer like Mohit Chauhan.(On the same lines of tumse hi,khoon chala, kahin na laage mann, tune jo naa kaha).Well of recent times Mohit Chauhan is the no 1 singer in singing romantic ballads :)(as of now)
The only exception to this is of course Masakkali which is more of a fun track(one of my favs too).
The song peelon starts with a stringed kinda instrument which reminded me the intro of "khuda jaane" from bachna ae haseeno.
The song begins with 2 voices Mohit and a sufi singer(possibly Rahat) humming...
Pee loon tere neelay neelay nainon se shabnam
Pee loon tere geelay geelay honthon ki sargam
Pee loon hai peenay ka mausam
The first 3 lines have that same romantic feeling of a ballad...very catchy :)
The mukhda takes a sudden turn for the next few lines
A qawwali twist to the song....
the twist really was unexpected for me when i heard it first time..loved the tabla here
Tere sang ishq taari hai
Tere sang ik khumari hai
Tere sang chain bhi mujhko
Tere sang bekraari hai
Tere bin jee nahi lagda, tere bin jee nahi sakda
Tujhpe hai haare maine vaare do jahan, kurbaan, tera kurbaan
The last line here reminds me of some song but not able to recollect :(
The rhythm pattern is the popular bollywood rhythm pattern found in so many other songs.
The antara comes back to the same Mohit 'ish mode ....right at this time it reminded me of another song Bheegi Si from Raajneethi.
Not that these songs have similar tune. But I'm very much sure that both these songs were composed in the same week atleast. One reminds me of the other :)No doubt 2 really nice songs.
pritam has some composed some really nice mohit chauhan songs and have loved most of them...I'm sure these songs add to that list too...
The interlude before the Antara with a string-harmonium is kinda nice...blends well with the overall mood of the song....
Also observe the minute change in the rhythm at the end...(when he is singing peeloon 3 :50)
Overall a very sweet, catchy song...with experiement of adding that qawwali feeling to otherwise a romantic kinda Mohit' ish song.
Guys i have been very irregular in updating this blog due to various reasons...will be more regular from this week....atleast 1 song a week...
My thoughts on music, songs and technology. For people who love the lyrics of the song too...this blog is not for you :)

1st Song Review-Aaromale
Well here is my first song review...
I have gone absolutely crazy with this tamil soundtrack vinnaithandi vaaruvaya.
One of the songs which really impressed me is this mad track called 'Aaromale'.Ufff
The song begins with a beautiful guitar/string riff.Wow that riff has some kind of an attitude. The singer Alphons Joseph sings with a bizarre voice signifying nothing but madness.
When the song began I thought this must be a complete out and out western kinda number.Well I was wrong!!!
Btw i never got bored of that riff...It was improvised everytime :)
Well I was wrong!!!A faint instrument in the background sounded very carnatic!!!Ya I was rite(A synthesiser kinda sound).Wow a bizarre voice, western guitar riff, carnatic background....adding to this a sankrit chant in between....
Wow what a track!!!
I always have observd that fusion tracks have this model
An indian basic tune, with some beautiful chords in the background, with multiple instruments.
This fusion song is different...exact opposite !!!
There are some beautiful improvisations(listening to the vibrating string at the end of the sanskrit chant) .
This definitely is one of the most beautifully crafted fusion tracks I have heard in recent times.
People rarely observe the subtle sounds Rahman includes in his songs....
hats off to you rahman!!!

first post-Intro
hi guys !!!This is Satwik Krishna.I'm a software engineer at Cisco.I'm an absolute tech freak, music freak and a sports freak too.I always wanted to post reviews and my understanding of the songs i listen to.Guess this is the perfect platform!!!
Im very much into fusion music and instrumental and love tracks which have something funky, something different them.I will post all the things I have observed in many of the songs I have listened to.
I'm open to any kind of tracks....in fact I hate this classification like 'pure' carnatic or pure western classical...or 'pure' movie songs...
Plz do comment on any of the mistakes (musical or non musical) when I post something.
